The Facebook Ads Targeting Audience That Converts Like Crazy

One of the biggest questions I constantly get about ads is around audience targeting. 

Everyone wants to know what the best way is to target their ideal customer. As if there is some hidden set of interests or secret hack to targeting that isn't being shared by marketers and ad agencies. 

But the reality is – there isn't one best way to target your audience – and anyone who tries to tell you that there is is just trying to sell you something. 

The only way to truly know is to test and see which audiences respond the best to what you're offering.  

But there is one audience that I always recommend targeting that is almost guaranteed to convert every time that often gets overlooked >> your existing audience. 

Or in marketing terminology, your warm audience. 

Most of the time when we think of spending money on ads to promote our business, we're typically focused on trying to reach new people. 

When it's the people who already follow us, engage with our content, visit our website, and have joined our email list that are the most likely to convert when they see our ads. 

These people already know who you are and are at different stages of discovering how you can help them solve their problems with your solutions.

These people are also what I like to refer to as your lowest hanging fruit because you don't need to spend a lot on ads to target them, but the impact and ROI can be massive. 

So, let's talk about a few different scenarios where targeting your warm audience can work really well:


1 - Limited Time Offers

Limited-time promotions – such as a discount or bonus on one of your offers – are one of the best times to target your warm audience, especially to those who have already shown interest in your offer. We’re all motivated by saving money or gaining something, and even a small discount or added bonus can motivate someone who has been on the fence to make a purchase.

2 - Price Increases

Another great time to target your warm audience is when you plan to increase the price on one of your offers. This is because similarly to a discount, price increases create a sense of urgency and trigger FOMO which encourages your audience to take action quickly. After all, they don’t want to miss out on the offer. This works especially well if you have a membership-style offer because your audience isn’t just getting in before the price goes up, but they get to keep that price month after month. 

One of my clients did this for her membership earlier this year, and gained over 128 new paying members into her membership while spending only $500 on ads. Her membership costs $30/month and the average member stays for over 6 months, so she'll end up collecting over $23k in revenue from this one ad. 

3 - Reminders

Simple reminder ads can be powerful for getting more of your audience to take action within your customer journey. They can be used to to remind people to come back and make a purchase after viewing your sales or checkout page, that the doors are closing for your online course or program, or even to remind your audience to watch your webinar or join your Facebook group after they sign up for your email list. 

4 - Sales Retargeting 

Most of the time our audience needs multiple touch points before they will buy from us and that’s where sales retargeting ads come into play. For these ads we’re typically focused on highlighting the benefits of the offer, addressing buying objections, and showcasing testimonials that show off how great your offer is. Most of the time these ads produce a 10x to 100x ROI (that's not a typo) because you may only be spending $5 or $10/day on them, but if even one additional person were to buy your offer could equal hundreds or even thousands of dollars in an immediate return.

5 - Omnipresence 

Omnipresence is the act of appearing to be everywhere online and it can be powerful for staying top of mind and building deeper relationships with your customers. With Omnipresence ads you’re typically not focused on selling anything but having top of mind awareness and consistent touch points with your audience is one of the fastest ways to convert new potential customers, especially if you’re selling something that’s higher ticket. Also, hardly anyone is running these types of ads so they are a surefire way to help you stand out from the competition and all the noise online.

  • Add a popup to your website that promotes one of your freebies. This could easily get you 1-3 new email subscribers per day, which could add up to 30-100 new subscribers every month for free. 

  • Collaborate with other brands in your niche and offer to host a free training for their community. Then point people to your IG page or email list at the end. I do this a couple of times per year and always get a good amount of new followers & email subscribers when I do this. 

  • Pitch your brand to podcasts that have the audience you want to reach. I had my assistant do this and I was able to land 5 podcast interviews within a couple of weeks. 

Two affordable ways to build your audience with ads:

  • Run a simple visibility ad featuring one of your top performing posts or reels, or even linking to your podcast, for as little as $1/day 

  • Run a list-building ad to grow your email list for as little as $5-$10/day 

Within a couple of weeks of using these paid strategies, you could have thousands of new people viewing your content and dozens if not hundreds of new email subscribers.
